This process first developed by the French cabinetmaker, André-Charles Boulle (11 November 1642 – 28 February 1732, highly popular in nineteenth century Britain.

This small desk box, would have been used to store small pieces of desk-top paraphernalia such as a seal, sealing wax etc. Today it would make the perfect box for business cards or just as perfect as a playing card box.

Signed by the top-flight retailer, "J.C. Vickery,Regent St. W1" (London). John Collard Vickery was honored with Royal Warrants of HM the King, HM the Queen, HM Queen Alexandra, TRH the Prince and Princess of Wales, HM the King of Portugal, HM the King of Spain, TM the King and Queen of Denmark, HM the Queen of Norway, HM the King of Sweden and the Prince and Princess Christian of Schleswig Holstein.
Superb condition, measuring 4 1/2" x 3 7/8" x 1 7/8" (the interior 3 1/2" x 3").
