A most stunning, large, original antique French table clock in the Rococo style. It is made of a beautifully figured, antique red shell veneer, mellowed to a lovely, warm and mottled appearance, mounted with finely modelled and gilded ormolu (finely gilded brass / bronze) that is in excellent original condition. The shape is classic Rococo, asymmetric waisted design with bold acanthus shoulders, scroll feet and a flamboyant floral swag to the top.

The dial is large and stunning, enamel on copper, lightly sculptured, and with separate minute and hour rings. It is complete with original blued steel hands and convex glass.

The French movement is of high quality and is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, the shell veneer is in lovely condition beautifully mellowed and figures. The left hand side has faded with light to a orange-brown and there are a couple of small blemishes, the largest being to the front of the top. The ormolu is beautifully clean and bright with hardly any wear or discolouration and there are no losses. The dial is also in excellent condition with no chips or scratches.

Complete with original pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.
