London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
This English Oak bookcase cabinet takes the form of an estate desk.

With good proportions and aged oak colour this large bureau will suit a variety of locations and is likely to look just as at home in a kitchen environment as it is in a study or drawing room.
An oak base with box stretcher presents a 2 drawer layout and benefits from robust oak linings and a pull to each drawer front. The cabinet rises with a pair of small specimen slides into twin field panel doors.

The doors open to reveal a trio of drawers below a set of letter racks, above which are a set of deep adjustable full width shelves. The upper cabinet terminates in a pleasing crown moulding.
A working lock complete with key is present. The doors benefit from quality door shoot-bolt hardware.

Overall this lovely piece of furniture is in good antique condition throughout. An unusual piece and certain to provide style and practicality for many decades to come.
