Description

A most unusual late Victorian or Edwardian Caviar dish, made from silver plate inset with a hefty thick opaline glass liner with a slightly concave top to pile the Caviar in the centre. This thick glass slab would be iced before serving.

The base stands on four handsome winged Lion's paw feet supporting the attractive pierced or reticulated holder that contains the glass. The domed lid is decoratively fluted and crowned with a Pineapple finial.

Superb undamaged condition, measuring 8 1/8" handle to handle with a rim diameter measuring 6 1/2" and standing 6 1/2" tall to top of finial.
