Magnificent Antique English Papier Mache Tea Caddy C.1860 - Urn of Flowers

Description

A particularly special example of a Victorian Papier Mache tea caddy dating to around 1860.

Both the lid and base are beautifully scalloped all the way around and the base sitting on four original bun feet.

The domed lid is beautifully inlaid with a stunning classical urn filled with flowers finished with hand-painting, framed with an inlaid shaped line of Mother of Pearl and finished with lavish gilding.

The front and sides are also decorated. The interior two lids to the double compartment caddy are also gilded and Mother of Pearl button style knobs.

Superb undamaged condition with a footprint measuring 8" x 5 1/2" x 5 1/4" tall to top of dome.
