Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The lid has an integral button knob to the front to open the lid.

There is a pin on a chain at the back to stop the lid being opened and keeping it securely closed. The knobs at each side can be gently tightened by hand to firm up the lid action.
On the back of the lid there is a full mark for the silversmith, Frederick Wilson & Co., and EPNS for Electro-Plated Nickel Silver.

Elegant and very usable in excellent condition, measuring 8 1/2" wide including knobs at side with a footprint 5 3/4" deep x 5 1/2" tall. The glass liner measures 5 1/2" x 4 7/8".
