Description

A delightful English string box, most unusual to see in silverplate, similar examples are usually brass.

The box is beautifully decorated with an all over repousse design, and has a handsome domed lid which fits perfectly. The top has a small hole to dispense string or twine.

Dating to the late nineteenth century, around 1890 the box has been professionally re-plated by our silversmith. Excellent condition, measuring 3" tall to top of dome with a base diameter measuring 2 1/2". Any gold tones in the photographs is simply overhead lighting.
