Quality Antique Architects Plan Chest

This extremely rare good quality mahogany French circa 1880 antique architects plan chest has a black with gilt tooled sectional leathered adjustable top with recessed ink and pen wells and retains it’s original gilt topped glass ink bottles.

The top can be adjusted to various positions of reading or drawing with a ratchet system and has a mahogany reading bar across the base which is also removable. Below are two drawers that have cockbeaded surrounds with central locks and three decoratively carved reliefs that sit above two panelled doors with a central lock, inset frames and carved pilasters to the center and flanking each side.

The antique architects plan chest sits on an original plinth base and when its doors are opened reveals a bank of very useful drawers which all have inset military handles. This plan chest is a very useful piece of furniture that has great colour are becoming very hard to find which has been carefully restored by using a traditional French polish method and will happily grace any home.
