Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1860s.
The top is inlaid with exceptionally pretty Mother of Pearl flowers and leaves, each engraved and inked to create a really life-like decoration; all strung together with stems created form fine pewter stringing.

The interior has been relined in an attractive hand-marbled paper, creating a clean and fresh finish ready for use.
The key is original but the lock not quite working, it is not catching when the pin moves across. Nevertheless creates a most attractive finished look with the Burgundy coloured tassel.
Excellent condition, measuring 9 1/4" x 6 1/2" x 3 1/4" tall.
