An exceptional flame mahogany domestic regulator longcase clock.
1800.
The cabinet is inlaid throughout with boxwood stringing.
The architectural pediment hood is surmounted by the original carved urn wooden finial of Gillows design.
The inlaid hood door is flanked by finely turned and shaped columns to the front and rear.
The flame mahogany long trunk door with arched top is flanked by inlaid quarter turned columns, which are capped with turned wooden capitals. (Typical Gillows design)
The inlaid canted base, with ogee bracket feet.
The circular enamelled dial is of elegant design with observatory regulator markings.
The original steel hands are finely wrought and blued
The eight day duration regulator movement is of fine quality, striking the hours on a single bell, employing a rack striking mechanism, with deadbeat escapement and Harrisons maintaining power
The movement is complete with its original cast iron weights and brass faced pendulum.
