Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The oval handles are decorated with a very stylish lined design. The beautifully shaped lid is topped with a carved Coquila nut finial.

The underside has a few set of marks for the retailer " Bracher & Sydenham - Reading " This Jeweller and Silversmith, still in operation today, Bracher & Sydenham, now Goldsmiths, on Queen Victoria Street, can boast a long line of regal customers and even a hand in the formation of Reading FC.

The shop still displays the warrants from Edward VII and Princess Mary Adelaide, Duchess of Teck, and it is believed to have been frequented by Queen Victoria and George V.
The underside is also stamped Romney Plate Sheffield which was a trade name used by Roberts and Belk; the design registration number, 726507, is also present dating this piece to 1927.
The finest quality in superb condition, measuring 5 3/4" (excluding handles) x 4 1/4" x 6" tall to top of finial.
