A Fine Large Regency Writing Box

19th century
Description

A top quality brass bound rosewood writing box with sunken brass handles. A non engraved cartouche and unusual lock stamped "W.HAMPTON". Patent and warranted with crown. The interior with 2 ink pots, one with Sheffield plated top, the other with brass locking top. 2 brass inlaid rosewood lids and pen tray, all with original ivory turned knobs. The top slope lifts with key to reveal a void interior which has 3 brass strung secret drawers hidden behind mahogany facia. The drawers are revealed by a hidden sprung catch below the Sheffield plated ink pot. The second slope lifts to reveal a mahogany interior with an original criss cross letter holder. Top quality replaced hand dyed hide writing surface with superb gold tooling. The quality of this campaign box is second to none. Offered here at a great price.More picts. available on request.
