Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1880s.

Not only is this piece pierced or reticulated but has vignettes of cast panels of foliate motifs resembling shamrocks or clover; these panels would have been cast and the applied to the piece, a tremendous amount of work when into creating this exceptional piece.

The center of the basket is engraved with a heraldic family crest featuring a Lion Standant Guardant sitting on a crown and another crown on his head.
Quite magnificent and very usable, the centrepiece measures 9 1/2" tall with a basket diameter measuring 11".
