Rare Early 19th Century Perfume Bottle Box - Shell Inlaid - Original Labels

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A George III perfume or scent bottle box is English in origin with a beautiful shell inlaid to the top, and the original English Lion's ring handles either side. The box stands on four original turned feet.

Once opened the box reveals six original sterling silver (unmarked) topped bottles, each measuring just 1" square and all sitting in the original fitted interior. The silver tops have a couple of little tears, insignificant but mentioned for accuracy. The bottles are also fitted with their original glass stoppers, a couple are stuck and one would normally soak to loosen .. however, not in this instance as each retains it's original paper label to the underside.

Each label has a pretty illustration with the name of the scent which would have been contained within; these scents may have been imported from France at the time or simply the French names used, common in perfumery; Extract de Rose, Extract a la Jonquilles, Extract de Fleurs d'Orange, Extract au Jasmine, Extract au Bouquet, Extract a la Violette.

As charming as they come in superb complete condition, measuring 4 1/4" x 3" x 3 1/4" tall.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
