Antique Figural Sterling Silver Postage Stamp Case - Book - 1905

Description

A really charming Edwardian sterling silver stamp case in the form of a tiny book, with lovely detail to the "spine" and even engraved around the sides to emulate the pages.

A tiny little knob is used to revolve the interior out to reveal a chamber to store square postage stamps, with an oval "window" so that you can see from the underside if there are stamps there and a silver bar across the centre to keep the stamps in place.

The silver is clearly hallmarked for Birmingham 1905; the maker's initials are also present C&N for the silversmith, Crisford & Norris.

Excellent condition, measuring 1 1/8" x 7/8".
