Antique English Sterling Silver Chatelaine Thimble Holder - 1893

Description

A charming repousse thimble case hanging from a Chatelaine chain. The box is beautifully decorated with all over embossed work around a central vacant cartouche on both back and front.

The lid fits well, opens and snaps shut, the interior lined with a dark blue velvet.

There is a full hallmark for Birmingham 1893, making this a true Victorian example, the maker's initials are also present for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

Excellent condition measuring 1 3/4" in length (excluding chain) and 3" including chain.
