Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
An unusual 13" dia. silvered dial with black Roman numerals and an outer ring of "tumbling" numbers in Arabic style. There is nice engraving to the centre.
The case is made of quarter-cut oak which enhances both the grain and the medullary rays. It is nicely polished with a rich, warm patina.
The base has a raised and fielded panel and the clock stands on its original ogeed bracket feet.
The 8 day movement strikes on a bell and has just been fully overhauled by our BHI registered staff.
Samual Hill worked in Sheffield between 1770 to 1814. Many of his clocks had round dials; a rather unique feature for the period.
