Stunning Antique English Sterling Silver Jewellery Box - Chester 1912

Description

Celebrating it's 100 year, this charming silver jewelry or trinket box is hallmarked for the year 1912 and the highly desirable Chester assay office. The makers initials are also present, HM, for the well renowned silversmith, Henry Matthews.

The box has the prettiest top you could imagine, beautiful embossed or repousse work with the interior being lavishly gilded. Another wonderful feature are the really delightful legs and little stylized heart shaped feet, a definite Art Nouveau flourish.

The interior looks to have be re-lined in a rich Amethyst coloured velvet.

Quite beautiful and in excellent condition, measuring 2 5/8" across the lid x 1 1/2" tall.
