Scottish Mahogany Longcase Clock

Description

A quality Scottish mahogany longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the case. A swan-neck hood pediment with brass patterae and central finial. A convex trunk door and trunk side columns. A very attractive arched painted dial depicting the four seasons to the corners and a country scene to the arch. Seconds and date dials and nicely detailed hands. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

David Wilson of Beith is recorded in Whytes' 'Scotish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1837-1851.
