Fabulous Antique English Butter Dish in Silver Plate - Elkington, 1890

Description

A really unusual and highly decorative butter dish consisting of an under plate, pierced holder, a gilded liner and the pierced lid.

he reticulated quatrefoil design is framed by an elegant beaded border on both the dish and tray. The top is crowned with a magnificent figural finial, in the form of a Goat, fun and charming.

Being made by the creme de la creme of silversmith's, Elkington & Co. we are able to date it accurately with the aid of a date letter, this one for the year 1890, a true Victorian example.

Excellent condition, the plate measuring 7" in diameter and the dish rim diameter measuring 5 1/4".
