Victorian Breakfront Sideboard

19th century
Description

A Victorian rosewood, parquetry and marquetry break-fronted sideboard. The mirrored back with an arrangement of 6 shelves and 3 bevel edged mirrors. The base with central door over octagonal panelled doors inlaid with flower filled vases and separated by turned pilasters and flanked by smaller doors with medievalist paint and parcel gilt portrait medallions. Fine gothic brass work and use of exotic woods including rosewood, sycamore,satinwood,boxwood and ebony with mahogany linings. Locks by "Hobbs & Co" with keys. This wonderful sideboard shows the late 19TH Century influence of William Morris and Owen Jones.

Condition - Very good, slight speckling to mirrors and old shrinkage on bottom right hand shelf, good colour and contrast. More pictures available on request.

Max height -84.5"(214cm), max width-75.5"(192cm), Base height-37.25"(94cm),Top height - 47.25"(120cm), Max depth( base ) - 19.75"(50cm).
