Large Antique English Mahogany & Brass Postal Scale - Sampson Mordan C.1900

Description

A quality example by the highly sought-after Sampson Mordan & Co. of London and signed to the front of the scale.

This one is rather unusual as the letter pan is engraved with the "Inland Letter Post" rates but I have never had one before also with a rate for "British Empire, Egypt & U.S.A", the rates on this scale indicate it to have been made post 1897, so late Victorian in era.

The base is made from solid Mahogany which holds the six brass weights. Excellent condition measuring 10" x 5 1/2" x 4" tall.
