Not so much of a cocktail shaker, more of a cocktail mixer, with the pump like mechanism on the top activating the paddle-like mixer to mix that cocktail for you. This paddle is stamped with a Patent number,398324 which dates to 1933, for September 9, 1933, invented and patented by one William Mair Rolf of 1, Dover Street, Piccadilly, London, W.1. The patent title was ''Improvements in Mixing Devices''.
The top has holes all over to enable pouring and straining the cocktail into a glass, a very practical and usable piece.
Made from heavy crystal with a variety of cut decoration, the fittings are made from English silver plate with the makers mark for John Grinsell & Co., this mark used after 1879.
A most unusual addition to your bar, in excellent condition with a base diameter measuring 3 3/4'' and standing 9 1/4'' tall to top of pump.
