The bell is concealed behind the gilded legs supporting the inkwell and the gilded leaves. The bell is actually hand-painted, worn in areas but panels being painted with a pink Rose and foliage.
Looking from the front, there is a lever to the left which when pushed down and released hits the bell creating a pretty chime.

The inkwell sits in a leather lined holder, made from cut crystal with a gilded top attached by a chain to one of the leaves. Behind the inkwell is an integrated Lyre shaped pen rest supporting the small pen included in the sale.

Dating to around 1890, late Victorian in era, it remains in excellent condition. The base measuring 3 5/8" in diameter x 5 1/4" tall.
