Description

A quite magnificent desk blotter & Writing Compendium, made from Papier Mache dating to around 1860.

All original, the painting to the front is quite outstanding with a highly desirable theme, with horses and dogs playing their part.

The blotter sits on four Mother of Pearl feet, there are feet too to the front so when the blotter is open, the painted front doesn't get damaged.

The interior is completely original, with the interior having a lavishly gold embossed plate with the days of the week. There are several pages of original blotting paper and a portfolio at the back with three compartments labelled "Answered Letters / Unanswered Letters / Various Notes".

Superb condition measuring 9 1/4" wide x 12 3/4" tall while closed.
