Antique English Sterling Silver Double Postage Stamp Box - 1904

Description

A beautiful example of an Edwardian sterling silver postage stamp box with the original stamps under glass on the lid.

The lid is sprung and snaps shut when released. The interior has two gilded compartments to store stamps and easily retrieve; the interior of the lid is lined in deep green leather.

The beautifully shaped box stands on four original silver ball feet. There is a full English hallmark for Birmingham 1904, making this a true Edwardian example. The makers initials are also present for the well renowned silversmith, Arthur & John Zimmerman or A & J Zimmerman Ltd.

Excellent condition, measuring 2 3/8" x 1 1/2" x 1" tall.
