Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The front of the handle is inset with a glossy piece of Tortoiseshell with a very pretty pique inlay. All of this is surrounded with a raised border of a continuous Accanthus leaf garland.
The handle is joined to the nickel framed glass with a pretty sterling ferrule. The magnifier is of course new (by Hilkinson), creating a clear, undamaged glass with a good magnification, making this a very usable desk accessory.
Excellent condition, measuring 6 1/4" long with a glass diameter measuring 2 1/2".
