Rare George III Exotic Wood Geometric Tea Caddy C.1790

Description

A magnificent and most unusual single compartment tea caddy dating to the late eighteenth century, dating to around 1790.

A highly decorative example inlaid with various exotic woods, the lid with Satinwood (surrounded by Ivory), Green Harewood. The geometric design continues on all sides including the back, a sure sign of quality, the box's various inlays surround a central Amboyna panel, all framed in fine Boxwood stringing.

Excellent condition complete with a tasselled key for decorative purposes (not working). 4 1/2" wide x 3 3/4" deep x 4 1/4" tall (excluding brass finial).
