Atropos Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
His groundwork is instantly recognisable and the taxidermy displayed in this case is of a high standard. The back of the case carries his famous trade label where he boasts his status as a plumassier and being a purveyor of artificail human eyes amongst other delights!
A very good victorian example of this not so common visitor. The shovelor is a bird of passage but visits in the summer and winter and is sometimes a resident breeder.
