Victorian Taxidermy by Gardner of Oxford St, London Shovelor Ducks Male and Female.

19th century
Description

A very good pair of shovelor ducks by james gardner of oxford street.

This original case was produced by gardner who was one of the foremost taxidermists in london during the second half of the 19th century. His groundwork is instantly recognisable and the taxidermy displayed in this case is of a high standard. The back of the case carries his famous trade label where he boasts his status as a plumassier and being a purveyor of artificail human eyes amongst other delights!

A very good victorian example of this not so common visitor. The shovelor is a bird of passage but visits in the summer and winter and is sometimes a resident breeder.

Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
