Antique Walnut Curio or Collectors Cabinet

19th century
Description

A beautiful victorian walnut, curio, specimen or collectors cabinet housing 12 various sized drawers all fitted with ivory knobs and one still containing pretty wedding mementos of the turn of the last century.

This delightful little cabinet has been very well made and is finished at the back allowing it to occupy a central position in any room.

I believe this was made by a very skilled cabinet maker as a presentation piece or commission for someone who followed the typical victorian pastime of saving mementos relating to important times or possibly from the grand tour.

These items do not come on the market very often as this pleasurable hobby is still 'alive and well'!

The drawers vary in size as can be seen and each is finished with an ivory knob. The door has the original lock and key and a pretty gothic style handle. Good proportions and a lovely patina. The whole stands on small bun feet.

Height. 19 inches.

Width. 12 inches.

Front to back. 10.25 inches.
