English Victorian Toast Rack and Egg Cup Cruet C. 1880

19th century
Sold by Puckerings
Description

A most unusual find, the egg and toast cruet is made for two with a pierced or reticulated egg cup sitting at each end of the rack, held in place with a pin fitting into a hold on the underside of each egg cup.

The divisions of the toast rack are formed in letters to spell out the word TOAST, further enhanced with some very decorative engraving.

The underside has a plethora of marks with a full hallmark for the English Silversmith, George Richmond Collis & Co. of Birmingham, this mark being used between 1869 and 1893, enabling us to date it fairly accurately. It is also impressed with the silvermith's full name and address G.R. Collis & Co. / 130 Regent St. London.

Excellent condition, measuring 7 1/4" x 3 1/4" x 4 3/4" tall.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
