19th C Lacquered Tea Caddy

Description

A wonderful 19th C lacquer decorated tea caddy, the top with a central cartouche of Chinese scenes with people gathered in front of a pagoda and further buildings in the distance, the front and back with three cartouches containing Chinese scenes, and single scenes to either side, a decorative 'feathered' banding to the top and base, the hinged lid opening to reveal a metal box interior with engraved decoration of two Chinese men amongst fruit and foliage.

Superb condition, fantastic colour and quite rare to have the original metal caddy inside!

W: 10 3/4"

D: 7 3/4"
