Magnificent Victorian Cut Crystal & Silver Plated Biscuit Box C.1870

Description

A magnificent top-quality biscuit box with a wonderfully tactile piece of heavy crystal beautifully cut all around, with a star cut to the underside.

This piece of glass sits in a silver plated base with a highly decorative pierced or reticulated frame with a matching border running around the side of the lid.

The four feet are most attractive and each having a diamond shaped English design registration lozenge which when investigated date the design of this piece to 27th February 1867.

The lid that tops the glass box has the most exquisite engraving with a large oval cartouche and a decorative finial to lift the lid.

Superb condition measuring 8 1/4" X 6 1/4" X 7 1/2" tall to top of finial.
