Charming Antique English Fruitwood & Rosewood Money Box Dated 1866

Description

A charming and most handsome Victorian money box with to flush brass inlaid money slots, one for gold & one for silver. In the centre is the original shield shaped inlaid plaque with decorative engraving and inscribed " Emma Jane Scarrot / A Present From Her Father / 1866 ".

The top and the front of the box is banded with striking Fruitwood & Rosewood bands, the sides and back in Rosewood.

The interior has two compartments re-lined in a hand marbled paper and the lid retaining it's original velvet lining. Complete with a working key, the box remains in excellent condition. 9" x 4 1/4" x 4 3/4" tall.
