Victorian Walnut Davenport

Description

A beautiful Victorian walnut davenport with kingwood cross banding between boxwood & ebony stringing. To the R.H. side there are 4 mahogany lined drawers with false drawers on the L.H. side , all with turned knobs . The unusual shaped top has a domed inlaid lid which opens to reveal a boxwood shaped stationary compartment. In front there are 2 replaced brass & glass ink pots which are sunken into ebonised square recesses and a scalloped pen rest. Inside the boxwood interior there are 2 drawers & 2 dummy drawers with turned knobs. The fall has a replaced hand dyed green hide writing surface which is finished with gold and blind tooling. The base has contrasting applied turnings and carved fret decoration leading to turned feet with original brass & porcelain castors . This super davenport is free - standing and is in excellent condition. With Keys Size:- Height 33.1/4'' 84.5 cm. Depth 22.1/4'' 56.5 cm. Width 22'' 56 cm.
