Scottish Mahogany Longcase Clock Dundee

Description

A good quality Scottish mahogany longcase clock. Choice flame mahogany veneers to the slim case. Brass capped hood columns and a swan-neck hood pediment. Trunk side columns and a recessed base panel. An attractive arched painted dial with the four seasons to the corners, date and seconds dials. An 8-day duration mechanism striking the hours on a bell.

James Young of Dundee is recorded in Whyte's 'Scottish Clock and Watchmakers' book as working from 1828-1850.
