Rosewood Bracket Clock by Barrauds, No: 1057

19th century
Description

A Fine Quality Rosewood Bracket Clock by Barrauds of Cornhill, London, NO: 1057.

A fine Rosewood Bracket/Table Clock by this well known and famous maker.

The 8 day duration double fusee movement with anchor escapement and striking and repeating the hours on a bell. The backplate with a rear mounted bell and pendulum fixing point. The round white dial with Roman chapters, Strike/Silent facility, finely made brass hands and makers signature and place of work. The high quality rosewood case with brass fish scale sound frets, brass carrying handles and brass bordered blind frets around the dial. The case also with a plain chamfer top and standing on four brass ball feet. Height: 16¼"

Note: The Barrauds family were prolific Clock & Watchmakers, particularly specialising in Chronometers. Paul Philip Barraud was Master of the Clockmakers Company in 1810 & 1811. He partnered Howells & Jamison in the late 18th century to make Mudges Timekeepers. He died in 1820. From numbering records we believe that this clock is by his sons who carried on the business after his death.

We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
