Victorian Mahogany 20 Drawer Collectors Cabinet

19th century
Description

A superb 20 drawer victorian, solid mahogany collectors cabinet by j.t.crockett of cavendish square, london.

This cabinet was originally used for the protection and display of a collection of butterflies. It is ideal for a multitude of collecting pursuits and is of the very highest quality.

This fine cabinet has remained in the same family for 130 years. It has been carefully looked after and treated with respect. The colour and figuring of the honduras mahogany is second to none and the original finish is totally intact. It is very rare to find a cabinet of such quality and in such fine lightly used condition.

The twenty drawers glide like silk on the hidden runners and all have beautifully fitted glazed frames to the top. The glass is original and each drawer has a hidden cell. The drawers have cork lining to the bases and are papered with the original paper. If the buyer requires re-papering for the drawers we are more than capable of re-lining to the highest standard.

The original lock, keys and hinges are all present and the cabinet moves on hidden casters to the base.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
