Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1800s.
An unusual eight sided shape beautifully inlaid with elegant cut brass inlay and stringing creating an eye-catching gem. Each side retains the original grand brass Lion's head ring handles.

The interior is very special with wonderfully shaped tea cannisters, the original red leatherette paper and the original cut crystal caddy glass. One cannister would have contained green tea and the other, black tea; these two teas would be blended to taste in the bowl by the butler, and transferred into the teapot. Tea was locked away from the household staff in the eighteenth and nineteenth century as an rare and expensive commodity.
A stunning piece in excellent condition, measuring 12 1/2" wide (excluding handles x 6" deep x 7 3/4" top.
