London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.
Double Sided Writing Desk - Aesthetic Period - c1880

The desk is presented in excellent order throughout.
The desk rides upon elegantly turned and inlaid legs which terminate in a lovely original castor. The legs are united by an extended H-stretcher which is formed as a tram-line railing separated by bobbins creating a very attractive base for this lovely desk. This styling is repeated in the table skirt

The five drawer design provides great practicality and the piece has a false drawer back so that the desk looks the same from all sides therefore allowing the piece to be placed centre room, not just against a wall; another sure sign of the craftsmanship which marks the piece out as one of quality.

Drawers are fitted with the original brass hanging bead handles and matching lock escutcheons.
The upper surface has a gorgeous original solid brass chamfered edge detail.
Overall this piece of furniture is in very good condition. The desk is well constructed and very solid.
