London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1800s.
Oak French Cabinet - Desirable Design - c1800

The piece is substantially crafted in oak and is presented in good antique order.
An under-hanging base with cute, simple cabriole legs offers open storage within a lower compartment (if there was ever a piece of furniture to be adopted by the cat of the house then this is it as this lower area looks like a perfect place to curl up!).

Extending from the base there is an overhanging upper cabinet with twin field panelled door. This hangs on attractive show-pin hinges and displays a magnificent shaped and engraved extended lock escutcheon. To the upper there is a crown moulding with rounded corner detail.

Overall this is a most unusual piece with lots of charm offering great style and practicality. It is presented in very clean condition and is ready to use.
The wonderful look and versatility of this unusual item of furniture ensures that it will look as at home in the kitchen as it will in the study or hallway. The whole piece offers great interest.
