Atropos Antiques has dated this piece to the 1880s.

The cabinet has been painted in the victorian style to emulate an oak carcass and the drawers within which all have glazed frames to cover and protect the specimens, are fashioned in oak. Each drawer has a hidden cell to the inside front and the knobs are ebony. The corked and papered drawers will accommodate continental length pins.

This cabinet is in good condition but can be restored or improved subject to the requirements of the new owner. The drawers could benefit from re-papering although some users might enjoy the 'turin shroud' type ghosts of the butterflies that used to reside within. (pictures are available on request).
