Cousin of Australian Portrait artist Sir John Longstaff.
Eventually evacuated to England where he resumed his artist career.(exhibited Royal academy)and appointed official war artist in 1918 and produced numerous themes of western front.
Remained in England and settled in sussex.
His style has a light impressionistic influence and developed a use of bold/pure colour.
He also produced quite intimate/domestic works such as this Still Life probably painted in the late 1920`s.
Signed in lower right corner.
