Antique English Novelty Jewellery Box in Walnut - Miniature Dressing Table C.1910

Description

A charming Edwardian jewelry box made from Walnut in the form of a miniature dressing table or desk.

The box stands on four wonderfully shaped legs, the lid is inlaid with a central fan inlay and Boxwood and Ebony stringing. The front is also inlaid with a fine stringing to emulate drawers with pulls to the smaller "drawers" and the centre with a shaped brass escutcheon which houses the working tasseled key.

The lid opens to reveal a lined interior with green silk to the side and a darker green velvet pad to the base.

Excellent condition and as unusual as they come, the box remains in excellent condition, measuring 8 1/4" x 4 3/4" (max) x 9 1/2" tall.
