Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Silver mustard pots became prominent dining accessories during the eighteenth and nineteenth centuries, designed to contain wet mustard mix at the dining table. Late Victorian and Edwardian examples often feature decorative fluting, secure hinged lids, and ergonomic handles reflecting contemporary silversmithing trends.

These vessels are predominantly raised or cast from sterling silver standard fineness. They typically feature hinged covers to prevent drying, thumbpieces for single-handed opening, and often included removable glass liners to protect the interior metal from acidic tarnishing.

Authentic British sterling silver pieces bear official assay office hallmarks stamped directly into the metal. These stamps include the lion passant for sterling purity, an assay office symbol (such as the Birmingham anchor), a date letter code, and the makers initials.

Small antique silver hollowware functions well curated alongside modern ceramics on dining sideboards, open kitchen shelving, or accent trays. Polished silver accents add light reflection and historic texture to modern minimalist or classic dining spaces.

Clean silver using specialized, non-abrasive silver polish and soft microfibre cloths to remove oxidisation safely. Residues of condiment pastes should be rinsed away promptly with warm water and mild liquid soap, ensuring the piece is thoroughly dried before storage.
