London Fine Antiques has dated this piece to the 1920s.
A very unusual configuration of Oak engraved coffer with drop front revealing an exceptionally well crafted range of internal drawers in solid maple.

Each of the nine slide out drawers is fitted with mounts designed to accept specific items of cutlery. The mounts are all covered in soft split leather and each mount is removable so the drawers can easily be re-configured for other needs. The drawers are prepared with sliding rails which allows each drawer to be pulled out fully without it falling out of the chest - in this way even the contents at the rear of the drawer can be inspected or removed with ease.

The external coffer chest is built to the same exacting standards as the interior with hand carved detailing and great quality.
The drawers will serve in many capacities and the use is not restricted to flatware sliver. They are exceptionally smooth running and show great craftsmanship.

The set of drawers are in great order and will perform perfectly and look wonderful for many decades to come.
