Quality Antique English Burr Walnut & Tulipwood Jewelry or Table Box C.1840

Description

A top quality heavy box made form the most exquisite piece of timber, highly decorative Burl Walnut with it's rich toffee colour and tight swirled grain.

Standing on four original turned bun feet, the box is decorated on every side including the back (a real sign of quality) with Tulipwood inlay framed with fine Ebony and Boxwood stringing.

Another sign of top-notch workmanship is revealed once opened with the interior of the lid being lined in Satinwood, again with the same Tulipwood inlay.

The interior has been re-lined in a hand-marbled paper creating a clean, fresh finish ready to use, whether it be for Jewellery, a desk-top tidy or purely to enjoy it's beauty.

Dating to around 1840, early Victorian in era, the box remains in excellent condition, complete with working key. 12" x 8" x 5 1/4".
