The centre has a fabulous and unusual inlaid cartouche featuring a fabulous mythical Griffin.

The box comes with a working key which opens the top panel to reveal two Sheffield plated topped inkwells. There is one large brass inlaid lidded compartment and a removable pen tray and a removable box with a sliding lid. Also there are two smaller sloped compartments for pen nibs and the like.

The leather is completely original with gold embossing and surrounding Tulipwood cross banding. The top section opens to store your stationery or letters.
A fabulous and lavish display piece in excellent condition. Measures 14" x 10" x 4" tall at rear.
