Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A sardine fork is a specialised silver serving utensil featuring short, broad tines designed to lift delicate preserved fish without tearing them. These distinct serving pieces emerged in the mid-nineteenth century as Victorian dining etiquette favoured highly specific flatware for individual courses.

Nineteenth-century Dutch silver pieces were crafted from solid silver alloys, often hand-cut and shaped from sheet silver before receiving hand-engraved scrollwork and etched embellishments. They were struck with official town, maker, and duty hallmarks to certify metal purity.

Authentic Dutch silver pieces from this era carry official silver purity marks such as the lion passant or sword mark, alongside a date letter stamp and makers mark. These tiny punches are usually struck on the reverse stem or blade of the item.

Antique silver servers can be displayed in lined presentation cases on sideboards, arranged inside glazed cabinet drawers, or incorporated into contemporary table settings to provide visual texture and historical contrast.

Solid silver should be washed gently by hand in warm soapy water and dried immediately with a soft cloth. Occasional light polishing with a dedicated silver cloth removes oxidisation while preserving hand-engraved details.
