Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The hinged lid fits perfectly with a small tab at the front to assist in the easy opening. The interior reveals a lavishly gilded finish.

The silver is of course hallmarked, for Birmingham 1899, making this a true Victorian example. The makers initials are also present for the silversmith, S. Blanckensee & Son Ltd.
Excellent condition, measuring 1 3/8" max in diameter x 1" deep. Weighs 12 grams or 0.38 Troy Ounces.
